As a trusted developer and manufacturer of high performance LED lighting products, Nu-Light LED is well aware of the many benefits that LED lighting can bring to your business. If you’d like to know how it can benefit you, our experts have compiled a list of the top 5 benefits of using LED lighting.
Superior Energy Efficiency
LED lights are very energy efficient, making them much more cost effective than halogen lighting, for example. A 50W halogen lamp actually turns approximately 90% of the electricity used into heat, and only 10% in to light. LED lights only use around 15% of the energy that a standard halogen lamp uses, therefore providing up to 85% of the output of light and creating much less heat. Because halogen lighting gives off so much heat, air conditioning is often needed in order to bring the temperature of a room down. LED lighting, however, gives off so little heat that air conditioning is not needed to regulate the temperature, saving money.
As you will be aware, CO2 is a gas that increases the greenhouse effect, having a direct influence on our environment. CO2 emissions can cause global temperature rises, extreme weather, the loss of delicate ecosystems, and can even be dangerous of people’s health. LED lights are an environmentally friendly form of lighting as they do not contain mercury or other harmful gasses, or emit any harmful UV rays. Just as an example, one 13w LED light emits 68% less CO2 than a standard 40w incandescent bulb running for 10 hours per day, making LED lighting a much more environmentally friendly choice for your business.
Long Life Span
The lifespan of an LED Light can be up to 50,000 hours compared to 750 to 2,000 hours for an incandescent bulb, 8,000 to 10,000 hours for a compact fluorescent and 20,000 to 30,000 hours for a linear fluorescent bulb. Obviously, the lifespan of conventional lighting is over when the filament inside breaks. But for LEDs it is defined as the average number of hours until light falls to 70% of initial brightness, measured in lumens.
Size, Profile and Designability
LEDs are generally much smaller than conventional lighting, allowing for much more flexibility in lighting design and more accurate and efficient use of light. Of course, LEDs can be used as part of an array to increase the surface area of light emitted. Because LEDs give off light in a specific direction, they are very efficient in application, and do not waste energy by emitting light in all directions.
Instantaneous Switch On
It’s a common misconception that LED’s take a long time to switch on and light up effectively. The truth is, quality LED’s switch on very quickly, even when they are cold, giving out light almost instantly when you flick the light switch, so you don’t have to put up with dim light while they get going!
